On World AIDS Day, December 1, St. Clare's Social Services hosted the dedication of a mural on its historic firehouse building in downtown Newark. St. Clare's was one of the recipients of a 2012 Newark Public Art Program's City Murals project, in collaboration with City Without Walls and artists Ibrahim Ahmed and Steve Green.
The mural is titled “its just a little rain...[mural #4]”, and is significant to the organization in many ways. It was inspired by and painted by youth from the St. Clare's community and designed by a longtime volunteer. Painting on the mural began just days before the recent storm Sandy hit New Jersey, and the project was completed in its aftermath.
We were fortunate that this artistic endeavor was able to come to fruition -- just in time for a dedication on World AIDS Day. Thank you to all of our community partners and the City of Newark!
