St. Clare Homes Property, Inc., an
affiliate of AIDS Resource Foundation for Children, announces the completion of
its $9.3 million, 46-unit supportive housing initiative in Newark,
culminating in a Ribbon Cutting ceremony in the West Ward. As one of the state’s largest providers of
housing services to individuals living with chronic illness, such as HIV, AIDS
and other disabilities, St. Clare Homes Property offers housing stability to
underserved populations. The public is
invited to join the organization and guest speaker Honorable Mayor Cory Booker
in celebrating the successful completion of this initiative, and welcoming 2
newly-built properties at 176-182 Roseville Avenue in Newark, on February 21st,
2013 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
The celebration will honor funders of the initiative including those who made it possible for the $3.532 million project at Roseville Avenue (16-units of housing) to come into fruition – the NJ Housing Mortgage and Finance Agency (Special Needs Housing Trust Fund), Department of Housing and Urban Development (Continuum of Care), New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, County of Essex (HOME), and the City of Newark (HOME). The Corporation for Supportive Housing was also a major stakeholder in the completion of the full initiative.
St. Clare Homes Property has a history of providing housing and support services to the Essex County area. In 1992, through partnerships with NJ Housing Mortgage and Finance Agency, AFL-CIO, and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, the organization was able to initiate a highly successful supportive housing program targeting populations with special needs in danger of becoming homeless. Today, this program is still serving families in need, and is the model that launched St. Clare Homes Property’s most recent housing initiative.
St. Clare Homes Property is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing long-term supportive housing opportunities that is cost-effective and ensures homeless individuals impacted by chronic illness can receive needed support in a dignified manner. The intentional blend of housing and stabilizing services has a profound effect on individuals and families who are also facing complex challenges such as substance use, mental health, and medical illness. St. Clare Homes Property combines affordable housing with services that help people live stable, productive lives.
